Dr. Vukich Publishes in Clinical Ophthalmology
Recently, research led by Dr. Vukich was published in the journal Clinical Ophthalmology, and is featured on PubMed. In “Evaluation of Intraocular Lens Rotational Stability in a Multicenter Clinical Trial,” Dr. Vukich and his cohorts evaluate the postoperative rotational stability of two intraocular lens (IOL) designs currently in development. In this study, the two prototype IOLs were compared against the TECNIS® toric 1-piece monofocal IOL as a control.
Toric IOLs are implanted during cataract surgery to help correct astigmatism, a refractive error caused by an irregularly-shaped cornea. It is essential that toric IOLs remain stable and properly aligned, and researchers are working on developing toric IOLs with improved rotational stability to ensure better outcomes for patients.
