Dr. Vukich Presents Paper on Tecnis® Toric II Program at ASCRS
Practice NewsMilwaukee ophthalmologist Dr. John Vukich, Founder and Medical Director of Summit Eye Care, recently presented a paper on the TECNIS® Toric III intraocular lens (IOL) at a meeting of the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery (ASCRS).
TECNIS Toric II IOL for Astigmatism
Dr. Vukich is a highly sought-after speaker and presenter at gatherings of the ophthalmic community. This year, he made a presentation on the TECNIS Toric II Platform before the ASCRS.
The TECNIS Toric II is an advanced intraocular lens (IOL), a synthetic replacement for the eye’s natural lens that is placed during cataract surgery or refractive lens exchange (RLE) to correct refractive errors. Specifically, as a toric lens, the TECNIS Toric II is designed to address astigmatism, the most common refractive error in adults. Astigmatism is a result of irregular curvature of the cornea, and can cause blurry vision at all ranges.
In the past, misalignment of toric IOLs led patients to continue to experience some blurred vision. The TECNIS Toric II has an improved haptic design that promotes rotational stability, reducing the likelihood of lens movement after implantation. This lens helps surgeons enjoy a higher degree of confidence when treating astigmatism and offers patients clearer, more high-quality vision.
